Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Provide calibration and technical support to Alton and Irvine operations. Responsible for the completion of work assignments. Ensure all calibrations and/or documentations are completed on time without past due dates. Understand the Advance process and control theory of a Metrology Laboratory system.

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Perform calibrations, troubleshooting and repair on measurement standards on test equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and repair various levels of issues identified, including but not limited to the technical disciplines: physical, mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, analytical.
  • Ensure all assigned calibrations are completed on time.
  • Calibrate and manage Metrology Standards per NCSL Z540.3 or ANSI/ISO/IEC 17025
  • Provide technical support to lower level Calibration Technicians.
  • Complete the Out of Tolerance condition process within a timely manner. Support the investigation initiative to determine root cause and implement/execute corrective actions as necessary.
  • Identify/implement continuous improvement for aging/unreliable instruments.
  • Review calibration SOPs for accuracy during routine calibrations or when new instruments are introduced into the calibration database. Create new calibration SOP for new instruments when necessary.
  • Review/approve calibration reports in Blue Mountain - Regulatory Asset Manager.
  • Maintain effective communications with customers, cross-functional teams, and direct manager on equipment/calibration issues to minimize production downtime.

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing
  • Knowledge of basic engineering principals in the mechanical, electrical, and quality fields.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of how to write detailed calibration procedures and test reports, and have a solid foundation in mathematics.
  • Must understand ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 and ANSI/ISO-17025.
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to work under general supervision.
  • Good technical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be able to use computers, calculators, diagnostic test equipment, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Good organization and planning skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to write detailed calibration procedures.
  • Ability to conduct troubleshooting and repair on complex/critical equipment with limited assistant from Metrology Lead/Engineer.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 2007 (Word and Excel).
  • Experience with a Calibration Management System software, preferably Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Manager.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to work as a team member.
  • Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision.
  • Must pass Medical Requirements and Containment/Clean Room training for entry into the DUPLEX facility.

Qualifications

Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc

Required:

  • AA degree in a technical field with 5 or more years of related experience in metrology/calibration and/or training; or equivalent combination of 10 or more years education and experience in metrology/calibration.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
