Director of Strategic Engagements
Minimum Qualifications Summary
Certification & Education
  • Master's Degree in Business, Sociology, Social Work, Public Health, Healthcare Administration or related field
Experience Required
  • 10 years' experience in communications and developing partnerships healthcare, social services, and community organizations
  • 5 years' experience leading collaboration among multi-organizational, multi-locational diverse teams
Job Objective
Support the integration of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) prevention and sexual health resources into Housing and Urban Development (HUD) housing programs for young adults experiencing homelessness and unstable housing.
Responsibilities
  • Support virtual meetings with CDC, HUD CPD and PIH staff, and HUD grantees in participating project locations.
  • Assess and facilitate partnerships in each project location, to include clinicians and other providers (e.g., health departments, health system affiliated clinics, etc.) that provide positive and affirming care, free from discrimination and bias.
  • Identify any existing relationships HUD grantees have with any clinicians and other care providers to whom clients are referred for care.
  • Work with HUD grantees to identify eligible organizations and providers in the community, foster partnerships, and build referral processes.
  • Support the Program Director in establishing and convening a Project Advisory Board (PAB) to provide oversight and counsel for project activities across all project sites.
  • Convene Youth Action Boards (YABs) and facilitate regular engagement sessions to provide oversight and counsel for all project activities, including review of resources, discussion about project methods, provide input for building program and community capacity.
  • Work with HUD grantees to identify Project Champions to "champion" the project in each site, ensure fidelity to the project, and address challenges in real time on site.
  • Develop a Community Engagement Plan (CEP) to document and guide all interactions with project partners, PAB and YAB members, young adult clients of HUD grantees, HUD grantee staff, and other community organizations, providers, or persons involved in the project.
  • For each project location, work with the Program Manager and HUD grantees to access local data sources and define a community profile that includes:
    • existing community resources and strengths (asset mapping),
    • community needs and challenges,
    • needs and challenges identified by young adults with unstable housing,
    • HUD grantee information and organizational structure,
    • number of clients served by the HUD grantees annually, and
    • other relevant community and contextual variables.
    • Reference CDC's Community Health Improvement Navigator Assess Needs and Resources tool to develop the community profile.
  • At each project location, work with Project Champions to develop partnerships with housing, public health and social service organizations, including referral protocols, and new partnerships with clinicians and other providers to whom referrals can be made for HIV/STI prevention, sexual healthcare, and other health and social services.
  • Support community and program capacity building and development.
  • Define methods for communication and a schedule for routine engagement with all project partners.
  • Support the development of incentives for project stakeholders.
  • Support the development and execution of Memorandums of Understanding between HUD grantees and clinicians and other providers, and data sharing agreement expectations between the Contractor and HUD grantees.
  • Participate in community engagement sessions.
  • Facilitate connection and partnership between public health and housing organizations to develop a plan for cross-referrals.
  • Support Resource Kit by providing strategies and recommendations for developing local partnerships and building referral networks.
Education & Certification
Master's Degree in Business, Sociology, Social Work, Public Health, Healthcare Administration or related field
Work Location
Remote. Some travel required within U.S. site locations to be determined by the CDC and HUD.
