About the Role:

As a Junior Food Technologist, you will focus on lab scale product formulation development of new and innovative products for Ferrero North America. This includes proactively executing and proposing innovative solutions aimed at new product development and existing product renovation and improvement through product design and formulation, quality, technology, sensorial, shelf life, etc. In collaboration with Quality Assurance and Production, guarantee the proper application of the procedures using specifications, standards, methods and instruments to measure and monitor the development of the process in the product, during production.

This role supports some of our most iconic brands including Keebler cookies and sandwiches EL Fudge, Chips Deluxe, Famous Amos, and Sugar wafers

*Please note that this is an on-site position, 5 days a week*

Main Responsibilities:

Product Features:
Responsible for knowing the distinct characteristics of the product and troubleshooting for technological difficulties.
Process Control:
Familiarize with product manufacturing processes (each of its critical variables)
Compute moisture contents, percentages of ingredients, formulas, or other product factors, using mathematical and physical control procedures.
Responsible for data collection and system analysis for the processes relating to the results of the finished goods as well as quality results
Specifications and Formula Requirements:
Responsible for correct application process consistency (dosage, timelines, critical parameters, etc.,) regarding the product specification/requirements
Share knowledge about development of the product specification/requirements with Production and Quality Department
Continuous Improvement:
Provide advice and guidance to Production personnel on the adaptation/changes to the production process for the purpose of improving and enhancing the product.
Support Production in identifying and removing of all product quality deterioration root causes and work to decrease/eliminate rejected product.
Provide assistance to QA Dept/Lab in research and development, production technology, and quality control.
Testing:
Tasting products in order to ensure that their profile meet specifications, and in selected samples with specific characteristics.
Performing tests of raw materials/semi-finished product and/or alternative processes
Provide feedback to Quality Department and Production to harmonize the results obtained.
Analyze test results to classify products or compare results with standard.
Conduct standardized tests on food additives/preservatives in order to ensure compliance with standards and regulations regarding factors such as color, texture, and nutrients.
Sampling:
In collaboration with Quality, organizes/participates in products/materials verification sample sessions.
Assist in the recording of results of production samples
Develop, compile and analyze sampling results and support Production and Quality to define/determine corrective action
Production Inspection:
Support Quality to ensure the inspection of the finished product output in order to guarantee that the finished products meet the quality specifications established by the DQG
Collaboration with the Production Specialist/QA Lab Tech's to seek continuous quality improvement.
Quality and Food Safety:
Support Quality and Production to ensure all program requirements/standards regarding quality and food safety are implemented, practiced, and maintained.

Who we are looking for:

Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field preferred

Prior experience working in a lab and or production environment.

Knowledge of industrial equipment, production process and technology, standard operating procedures, health & safety / quality standards and work instructions and industrial installations preferred.
