General Summary:

You'll be responsible for day-to-day operational project activities and aircraft maintenance technician tasks for GTOC projects.

As a strong contributor to our operations, you will have responsibility for:

  • On-time delivery to customers
  • Executing production schedules
  • Consistent and effective communication with operators, management and engineering team members.
  • You'll perform specialized Technician duties to include hands on aircraft maintenance and operating machinery.
  • Work with Engineers and Technicians to identify and establish process improvements, cost reductions, time standards, technical manuals and repair and overhaul of aircraft and their components.
  • Execute welding assignments and set up and operation of Lathe, Mill, Grinder, and/or other NC/CNC machines to perform and produce precision metal parts and materials such as cutting, drilling, milling, boring, grinding as specified by Job Traveler, blueprints, drawing, templates or layout.

Education and Experience Required & Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associates Degree and/or 2 years Technical/Trade school training or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in Machining and Part Fabrication
  • Welding experience with degree and / or certifications, MIG and TIG preferred
  • Reading engineering drawings and hold close tolerances
  • Experience with CAM software such as MasterCam
  • Operation of stone and belt superfinishers is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word. Outlook and Project strongly preferred.
  • Painting experience is a plus
  • Electroplating experience is a plus
  • Non-Destructive Testing (MPI, FPI, etc.) level 2 or 3 certification is a plus
  • Ability to perform sheet metal repairs to a variety of aircraft, possess an in-depth knowledge of sheet metal materials and repair techniques is a plus
  • May be required to accompany aircraft on project flights away from the work site and perform aircraft maintenance at various locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate parts to accomplish repair and overhaul of aircraft related to U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy aircraft, including vertical lift aircraft.
  • Consult military and/or commercial aircraft technical manuals, technical orders, modification work orders and blueprints.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and rudimentary drawings.
  • Plan the fabrication sequence to fabricate parts to specifications in a timely manner per review of engineering drawings, illustrations, and written/verbal correspondence.
  • Coordinate with project engineer personnel throughout the project, and provide technical assistance to project engineers, contractors and factory representatives.
  • Use tools and equipment associated with a sheet metal and fabrication shop, such as protractors, calipers, pitch gauges, crimping tools/machines, forming machines, power shear and brake, heli-arc welding machines, saws and drilling presses, etc.
  • Must be willing to cross train and work in electroplating, thermal spray (HVOF and cold spray), painting, abrasive blast, laser, waterjet operations, etc.

  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
  • Ability to apply knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100D Quality systems
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to interact with customer levels and all management levels
  • Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, possess excellent organizational skills, and be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Open to changing priorities and not easily distracted

Other Requirements:

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen
  • As a condition of employment, candidates will be required to participate in a background investigation and be able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
  • Active DoD security clearance is a plus
  • Ability to travel if required
