What does a greatAPI Architectdo?


The Architecture organization works as a central coordinating center to develop, standardize, and transfer technology into Travelport's product and services. As part of that charter, we develop frameworks and ways of working to govern new development efforts, as well as support migration and transformation of legacy applications into easy to use, performant, services

As Travelport modernizes the way it builds, deploys, and scales its application services in the cloud and in its data centers, the Architecture organization is looking for additional architects with experience in developing APIs in a hybrid cloud environment for high volume transactional businesses, with experience in AWS preferred.In addition, we're looking for creative thinkers that are looking to apply new approaches and technologies to build and deploy APIs while helping define the API architecture for Travelport's existing services for efficient cloud operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Help define future state API architectures including edge strategy in a hybrid cloud environment in that support business objectives
  • Provide API governance and oversight to ensure others adopt defined architectures
  • Provide specialist advice and recommend approaches across teams and various stakeholders
  • Communicate widely with other stakeholders
  • Advise on important API-related technologies and assess the opportunities associated with proposed changes
  • Research and apply innovative API architecture solutions to new or existing problems and be able to justify and communicate design decisions
  • Understand the impact of decisions, balancing requirements and deciding
    between approaches
  • Be the point of escalation for architects

Who we are looking for in this role:

  • A strong communicator and collaborator with cross functional teams
  • Someone with a breadth of experience across various aspects of software
    engineering
  • Experience developing APIs in very high transaction environments
  • Experience AWS or other cloud platforms
  • Experience with API gateways, proxies, and security platforms
  • Experience in identity management systems a plus
  • Experience in regulatory requirements (PCI, PII,) a plus

Salary Target: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors,
including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and
training.
