Job Summary

The Technical Services Specialist will provide proactive consultation to cement customers in the areas of product performance, mix optimizations, best practices, technical information research, troubleshooting, and technical training.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide the sales team with technical advice and support
  • Proactively participate in promotion efforts relating to cement based and related products
  • Proactive involvement in technical organizations such as the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) as well as various ready-mix concrete organizations with emphasis at the local or regional level.
  • Ability to properly manage and prioritize resources, people and projects
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Concrete Technology, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Materials Engineering
  • Experience as Quality Assurance / Quality Control Manager or Technician, Technical Services Engineer or Certified Concrete Technologist in the building materials industries (cement, concrete, admixtures, concrete or masonry construction) desired
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Technical knowledge of building materials and construction concepts
  • Technical aspects of customer's products, systems and applications
  • Cement products application technology
  • Industry standards and codes
  • Interpersonal skills including conflict resolution
  • Project management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills: Word, Power Point, Excel
Working Conditions
  • Capable of working in an open concept office environment
Physical Requirements
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
