Position Summary | The Ozias-Akins Biotechnology Lab seeks a creative, motivated, and skilled postdoc to participate in peanut genetics and breeding projects with an emphasis on reducing aflatoxin contamination. The successful candidate will explore genetic mechanisms of resistance to Aspergillus infection and aflatoxin contamination through population development, genotyping, and phenotypic characterization in the laboratory, greenhouse, and field. Validation and translation of candidate gene discoveries through selection or modification will be conducted. |
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position | · PhD in plant biology, genetics, or breeding-related field. · Molecular and cellular biology knowledge and skills. · Excellent oral and written communication skills. · Proven publication record. · Some experience with bioinformatics. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies | · Work independently, as well as an integral member of a team · Experience with breeding, genetic mapping, and molecular genetics including computational expertise is required · Knowledge of and/or experience with plant and bacterial genetic engineering including gene editing is preferred |
