Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field.  Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in genetics
Experience in genetics, breeding and genome-editing/tissue culture
Position Summary
This position will assist researchers in finding a solution to mitigate aflatoxin contamination. They will also assist in conducting research to identify resistance genes for other diseases such as nematodes which contribute to aflatoxin contamination.

Specific duties will consist of:
  • Maintain peanut multi-parent mapping populations called PeanutMAGIC and MAGIC Core along with the eight founder parents
  • Maintain the whole genome sequencing and genotyping data of the MAGIC Core
  • Maintain the sequence data for 250 Aspergillus flavus genomes
  • Phenotype A. flavus and aflatoxin production
  • Collect data and communicate research findings though publications and presentations at scientific conference
  • Communicate regularly and timely with collaborators like LSU, UGA-Griffin and Rutgers, team members, and PI regarding research and other issues relevant to the research projects
  • Assist with the daily operation of the laboratory and assist with supervision of the other members of the laboratory
  • Other duties as assigned

The possibility of renewal of this position for subsequent years will depend on the availability of funds.
