SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Practice resident will engage in those direct and indirect patient care activities designed to increase their knowledge base, develop their clinical skills and enhance their ability to apply such skills and knowledge in the appropriate care of patients.

The resident will function as a pharmacist to support the goals and priorities of the department. Some of the responsibilities of the Pharmacy Practice Resident will include: activities to support the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, such as drug monographs, medication use evaluation and adverse drug event surveillance; participation in staff development within and outside the department; design and execution of a research project and submission of the project for publication in peer-reviewed journal; staffing responsibilities as a patient care pharmacist; assisting in the precepting of pharmacy doctorate students; and other activities deemed of value by the Director or Clinical Coordinator in the clinical training of the resident.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctorate of Pharmacy degree within 6 months prior to the start of the Residency
  • Fully licensed as a pharmacist in the state of Georgia or must obtain license within 120 days through reciprocity or exam
