YOUR MISSION:

Participates in a development team. Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical hardware components and systems for electronic assemblies. May act as internal consultant providing instruction and technical guidance to engineers and other technical staff through the design and development process. Subject Matter Expert in thermal design and simulation.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:
  • Develops designs for mechanical subsystems for mechanical components.
  • Confers with other Senior and Staff Engineers to prepare and document design modifications as required.
  • May employ quality improvement and supplier relations approach utilizing customer required formats such as
  • Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Production Quality Process (APQP) techniques.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
  • Prepares information as needed in the design documentation process.
  • Prepares mechanical drawings, product and component related specifications, and bills of materials as needed.
  • Performs quarterly check-ins, advises and coaches technical development and mentors team members.
  • Informs level 1 manager of technical performance and technical development needs of team members.
  • Responsible for quality of design work. Signs off on drawings as Approver.
  • Works with Discipline Lead to create WBS manpower estimates and product quotes.
  • Confirms accuracy of Bill of Material (BOM).
  • Generates and analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.

MUST-HAVES:
  • Four-year College Degree in at least one STEM major (Science; Technology; Engineering; Math) and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience; or a minimum of fifteen (15) years of mechanical design experience in electronics products applying plastic injection, metal stamping and/or metal molding concepts; or Master degree in STEM major
  • Experience in Thermal design and analysis. Analysis experience preferred with CFD simulation software. Preferred experience designing cold plates for medical, aerospace, military or automotive applications
  • Experience with system level design work and solving complex problems independently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Windows-based databases as appropriate to the position and assignment
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately interface and communicate with customers and team members
  • Experience mentoring team members.
