Job Description

Are you passionate about driving transformation through human-centered design? We are seeking a talented and experienced Transformation Leader to join the Controller's Process & Technology Transformation team. You will create value in this role as you collaborate closely with stakeholders across Georgia Pacific, including finance professionals, leadership, and mill operations, to understand their needs, pain points, and goals. You will use your expertise in user research and design thinking to identify opportunities for improvement and define user personas, user journeys, and design requirements for transformation projects. As a member of the Process and Technology Transformation team within the Finance Controller's organization, we drive finance transformations that revolutionize accounting practices. Location: This role is based at our Corporate HQ in Downtown Atlanta, GA. This role will be a hybrid of in office with some flexibility to work remotely, with the expectation of being in office more than not. This is a visible role and fostering relationships and collaborating with teams across the company will be key to your success. We are seeking local applicants, or candidates that are willing to relocate to the area.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the accounting organization, including finance professionals, managers, and end-users, to understand their needs, pain points, and goals
  • Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gain insights into user behaviors, preferences, and challenges in performing jobs
  • Storyteller: Synthesize research findings to identify opportunities for improvement and define user personas, user journeys, and design requirements for transformation projects.
  • Facilitation: Lead ideation workshops and design thinking sessions to generate creative solutions that address user needs and align with business objectives.
  • Guide critical initiatives through problem definition, research and insights, conceptual experimentation, assumption validation, and implementation. Obtain learnings in a low-risk way, effectively balancing speed and value for our teams and our customers.
  • Assist in the prioritization of project and team initiatives against strategic business objectives.
  • Assist in stakeholder alignment to present the feasibility and viability of solutions. Identify potential business opportunities as they relate to strategic transformation initiatives
  • Teach human-centered and design thinking approaches, practices, and methodologies to cultivate an HCD culture within the organization.
  • Work within cross-functional team environments and cultures through self-directed and collaborative approaches.
  • Advance our Principle-Based Management culture by applying and reinforcing the company's Core Values and Principles

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Professional experience as a hands-on practitioner; leading projects from discovery through solution launch and as a design workshop facilitator
  • You have the ability to translate customer needs to design requirements that addresses user needs and business goals
  • You know how and when to use design best practices, innovative methodologies, and/or lean methodologies
  • You are able to guide cross-functional teams through the design process, fostering collaboration and creativity
  • You can emotionally connect to the lives and realities of the people we serve, and build deep customer empathy capabilities within our business
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 25%)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience working in an Agile/ Scrum product team
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (Sketch, Adobe, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Accounting and Finance principles and functions
  • Business Process Mapping experience
  • Lean Six Sigma experience
