Audio Visual Technician

The Audio-Visual Technician will be responsible for managing all aspects of audio-visual equipment and support services at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). This includes assessing, recommending, and repairing AV equipment as needed, providing technical support for meetings and conferences, monitoring event schedules, conducting regular systems checks, and potentially working shifts to support 24/7/365 operations. The position requires on-site work at CDC's Roybal Campus and demands strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to providing high-quality service.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Audio Visual Technician: Pay commensurate with experience.

Audio Visual Technician Responsibilities Include:

  • Assess, recommend, and repair audio visual equipment in the EOC, ensuring optimal functionality at all times.
  • Provide technical support for setting up conference calls, in-person meetings, and hybrid meetings using Zoom or Teams platforms.
  • Review support ticket requests, assess issues, and provide solutions to CDC staff for any AV needs related to EOC AV Equipment Team Rooms. Response time should be same day or within 24 hours.
  • Monitor events scheduled on the daily staff rhythm and EOC operations calendar, initiating AV setup as needed. This may involve setting up or prepping conference rooms, moderating audio bridge lines, supporting Envision video conferencing, and facilitating audio and web conferencing applications (WebEx, Zoom, and MS Teams).
  • Conduct monthly AV systems checks using a CDC-developed checklist, documenting issues, and recommending solutions to ensure the reliability and functionality of AV systems.
  • Support 24/7/365 operations by potentially working shift assignments as identified by the CDC and shared with the vendor.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Audio Visual Technician Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Associate degree in audio visual technology, information technology, computer science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in audio visual coordination, technical support, or a related field.
  • Strong technical skills with AV equipment, conferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams, WebEx), and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and support to CDC staff members.
  • Flexibility to work shifts as needed to support 24/7/365 operations.
  • Certification in audio visual technology (e.g., Certified Technology Specialist) or related field is a plus.
  • On-site work required at CDC's Roybal Campus.
  • Potential for shift assignments to support 24/7/365 operations.
  • Work is conducted in a climate-controlled office environment.
  • The environment may require prolonged sitting, prolonged standing, and light lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Requires a NACI-level investigation.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
