Health Communications Specialist

Join our dynamic team as a Health Communications Specialist I and play a crucial role in the development and execution of effective communication strategies for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC-DIP) programs.

Compensation & Benefits:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Health Communications Specialist Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop communication plans that demonstrate knowledge of appropriate audience segmentation, communication goals, key messages, product development, channels for distribution, and evaluation metrics.
  • Manage long and short-term communications projects
    • This will involve developing Creative Briefs, Project Plans, Status updates
  • Collaborate with health communication specialists and subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify resources and tools needed for external websites, internal web content, and SharePoint.
  • Assist an evaluation and research team in developing and disseminating communication products such as one pagers, graphics, and web content.
  • Write success stories for Division funded grant programs.
  • Conduct media monitoring for the Division's primary topic areas.
  • Serve as a backup social media coordinator for the Division.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Health Communications Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Journalism, English, Communication, Health Communication, Public Health, or related field.
  • Prior experience with CDC programs, policies, and procedures preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, presentation skills, and ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Effective time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Able to collaborate with subject matter experts and communication specialists.
  • Ability to pass U.S. Government security investigation and Cherokee Federal pre-employment qualifications.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
