Airworthiness Inspector Lead A&Pin GAC Savannah


Unique Skills:

Must be proficient with computer systems and programs related to the Repair Station. Advanced knowledge of policies and procedure for repair station quality. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work from heights to include lifts, ladders, stands, and scaffolding. A&P Required. Strong people leadership skills are highly sought after. The ideal candidate will have self motivation to help provide support to their team and to their operations counterparts. Problem solving skills and communication skills are paramount.


Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required. Other Technical School or college preferred. Airframe and Powerplant License required. 7 years aircraft/component inspection experience to include (5) years experience inspecting large or mid-size aircraft.

Position Purpose:

The Lead Airworthiness Inspector physically examines aircraft, aircraft components, and reviews related paperwork to ensure that workmanship meets acceptable standards of quality, and that customer aircraft are returned to service in an airworthy condition with all required. documentation properly completed and filed. The Lead Airworthiness Inspector contributes directly to the training and evaluation of individuals within the Quality Control Department.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Responsible for planning, scheduling, and supervising assigned Inspectors on aircraft in the Repair Station.
  2. Ensures assigned personnel have necessary resources to complete assigned task. Assists when necessary to initiate, coordinate and/or complete a project. .
  3. Monitors the performance of Airworthiness Inspectors, provides training and guidance, and provides input for individual performance reviews.
  4. Maintains current status of aircraft/components in assigned area and communicates effectively with the return to service staff.
  5. Ensures Quality Representatives within the repair station perform their duties as outlined in QCM. .
  6. Ensures inspection requirements are coordinated between departments.
  7. Coordinates throughout assigned jobs with RTS to ensure accurate aircraft records are produced in a timely manner. .
  8. Ensures accurate, neat and legible records of the work performed on aircraft/components are maintained.
  9. Identifies FAR 135 Operators, FAR 135 Maintenance Programs and ensures adequate trained Inspectors are available. .
  10. Ensure audits of maintenance documentation for accuracy and completion are conducted on all aircraft/components prior to approval for return to service.
  11. Monitors all department calibrated tools and test equipment for current calibration. Submit changes for any Technical data found discrepant.
  12. Identifies Foreign Authority operated aircraft/components and ensures their requirements are met.

Additional Functions:
  1. Works closely with the CI/QCM and FAA Officials to achieve airworthiness and certification goals. .
  2. Communicates with operations management as required. to identify work assignments and delivery schedules. .
  3. Coordinates shift turnover to ensure continuing inspection responsibility. .
  4. Approves daily electronic time edits, verification and approval for assigned personnel. .
  5. In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may include flight tests on aircraft as required. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  1. Advanced knowledge of inspection and certification processes; a general working knowledge of the various aircraft, engines, and components; and familiarity with pertinent FARs and technical reference materials.
  2. Possess a comprehensive knowledge of FAR Part 145 and associated guidance materials, Part 43, Part 91, Part 121 and Part 135 as these Parts apply to work accomplished under the Repair Station Certification.
  3. Possess a comprehensive knowledge of interpretations, applications, and procedures for completing FAA paperwork including FARs, FAA Orders, Advisory Circulars, Form 337, Form 8130-3, Form 8110, STCs, and other pertinent paperwork.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to effectively prioritize tasks.
  5. Strong computer skills. Proficient with Microsoft Word. Minimum 20 WPM typing speed.
  6. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
