About the Role:
Prepares and completes tax returns and reports involved with federal, state, local, property, sales, and other tax liabilities. Responsible for meeting all required deadlines. Maintains current knowledge of all tax laws affecting the company. Reviews proposals for tax implications and recommends actions that meet the business plans while managing the tax liability. Assists in tax audits. May be involved with tax implications of mergers and acquisitions.
What You'll Do:Perform complex tax calculations and gather accounting information for compliance procedures related to global indirect taxes
Research transaction tax issues and provide guidance based on research of transact tax laws and regulations.
Prepare backup documentation required for global tax filings and provide guidance and advisement to both outside firms and management team.
Prepare information used in tax audits and assist with meeting all required deadlines
Handle all inbound and outbound calls from internal personnel and customers with professional tax advice.
Responsible for manual decision-making process of release of orders with tax logic.
Review proposals for tax implications and recommend actions to management team which meet business plans while limiting tax liability.
Responsible for opening and deciphering notices, processing tax invoices
Maintain indirect tax calendar along with tracking the returns
Prepare monthly reconciliations of the tax accounts which will require analysis to certify balances in the accounts.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance and/or 3-5 years related field experience required.
Strong accounting skills and general ledger experience plus familiarity with Accounting for Indirect Tax required. Accounts reconciliations experience preferred.
Some understanding of import processes and customs relations with hierarchy of document flow.
Demonstrated background adhering to standard procedures/practices with proven experience exercising judgment and determining appropriate actions within those defined procedures/practices.
Proven ability to self-manage/prioritize strict deadlines and ability to work on problems of moderate scope.
Strong oral and written communications skills with a track record of building productive internal/external working relationships.
Advanced MS Office skills, specifically Excel and Word.
