About the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology
The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology is a vibrant and intellectually diverse School with people who are using new technologies to expand the notion of what it means to be civil and environmental engineers in the 21st Century. Celebrating 125 years this academic year, we teach out students the engineering fundamentals they need to be successful at the interface of the built and the natural worlds. Our program is focused on learning how to think, how to solve problems, and how to impact society. at the Georgia Institute of Technology (CEEatGT) invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty (i.e., academic professional) position in the Learning Sciences, Engineering Education, Educational Psychology, Curriculum and Instruction and/or related fields. Applicants will be considered at all ranks. The position will focus on leading and supporting the implementation of the School's strategic vision for education that includes as a core value: Cultivating entrepreneurial mindset to engineer and design new materials, technologies, and high-impact solutions for a rapidly changing world. Student experience and success objectives include fostering a sense of belonging to the School and the CEE profession, and, pioneering learning opportunities that empower the CEE community to reach their educational goals and meet emerging and long-standing challenges. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.
This is a full-time, 12-month non-tenure track academic professional faculty position with a combination of teaching (no more than one course per semester, which may also take the form of serving as a rotating expert across selected courses), implementation of evidence-based scholarship on teaching and learning, and faculty development and administrative responsibilities. Administrative responsibilities, representing roughly two-thirds of the total responsibilities, will be focused primarily on undergraduate programs with some synergistic activities that cut across both the graduate and undergraduate programs. The expectation is for teaching responsibilities up to 30% and research responsibilities up to 10% of overall responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities
* Play a central role in implementing the School of CEE's strategic vision for education; provide leadership, in partnership with faculty, students and staff, in change management and institutionalizing change in a fast-paced environment where tangible short-term results are valued.
* Coordinate faculty development activities to facilitate achievement of CEEatGT's strategic objectives.
* Support faculty in innovative course design applying evidence-based pedagogy including incorporating cognitive as well as non-cognitive competencies into pedagogical approaches.
* Support grant development for curriculum innovation and faculty development
