Job Summary

Provide office support services within a campus unit to include organizing and preparing correspondence, reports and other documentation; scheduling meetings and events; file maintenance, and related administrative activities; and assisting customers with their service needs. Job Summary

The Horizons at Georgia Tech Program is looking for talented and energetic individuals to work as Intern Assistant Teachers in a six-week academic enrichment summer program. We are looking for professional, responsible, and caring individuals. Assistant Teachers work alongside certified lead teachers to implement strategies to engage scholars in active learning through non-traditional, hands-on activities in our six-week summer program. Horizons Assistant Teachers work with approximately 15 scholars in small group and individual instruction in mathematics, reading, and science. A successful Assistant Teacher will enjoy working with youth and as a team player to help fulfill the Horizons mission.

A typical day may include academics, arts, swimming, breakfast/lunch and recreational activities. Teaching Assistants will also be responsible for bus monitoring, lunch monitoring, bus loading/drop off, and pick-up coordination as well as attending all field trips. Other duties may also be required.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Compose routine correspondence; prepare and route correspondence, reports and other documentation.

Respond to customer questions or concerns.

Perform other duties as assigned

Compile and organize data for use in reports.

Schedule and make arrangements for meetings and other events.

Job Duty 4 -
Make travel arrangements for unit staff management and staff as directed.

Maintain office supplies inventory.

Job Duty 6 -
Maintain filing system.

Job Duty 7 -
Receive and refer phone calls; greet and direct office visitors.

Job Duty 8 -
Gather pertinent information regarding customer service needs.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma

Other Required Qualifications
Ability to work outside of typical business hours as needed, potentially including but not limited to evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required Experience
Up to two years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Must be available for all six-weeks of the Summer Program, Staff Orientation, Planning & Class Set-up
Must be willing to actively participate with the scholars during their daily swim lessons
Swimming ability not required but comfort in the pool is

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires skills in general office administration to include document preparation and processing, records management, event planning and organization, spoken/written communications and interpersonal skills, and the ability to multi-task. Skill in basic office related computer applications is required.

Other Information

PROGRAM INFO: The program runs from Monday, June 3rd through Friday, July 12th with mandatory post planning on Monday, July 17th and Tuesday, July 18th. Mandatory orientation, planning and classroom set-up is scheduled for Tuesday, May 28th through Friday, May 31st. There will also be a mandatory Horizons, Family Orientation and Scholar Assessment Day on Saturday, May 20th. The program will be closed on Wednesday, June 19th, Thursday, July 4th, and Friday, July 5th.

PAY: Assistant Teachers earn $13-18/hour for all trainings and during the program.
