We are currently searching for a highly motivated, results focused Director, Strategic Accounts - Southeast. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing account-level post-launch client discussions to ensure rapid profitable formulary access for Lexicon products with Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) Hospital System Accounts, as well as favorable positioning for outpatient discharge. In addition, you will be responsible for working with the field sales force to monitor and communicate progress regarding pull-through of IDN System formulary wins. The Director, Strategic Accounts will act as a role model for our corporate values of Integrity, Innovation, Respect, Transparency and Ownership.

This role will be field based and will reside in the assigned southeast geographic location.

Job Summary:

This position will act as an integral member of our Commercial Market Access team by developing and executing strategic business plans to deliver results for our key Cardiovascular product launch.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Responsible for leading the Lexicon effort to deliver formulary access at aligned target IDN Systems
  • Monitor and communicate formulary access to facilitate field sales efforts to maximize pull-through effectiveness at aligned target IDN Systems
  • Pursue and implement policies and procedures which ensures therapy continuity of care during the in-patient to out-patient transition process
  • Drive development and implementation of collaborative opportunities with C-suite leadership across the continuum of care in highly matrixed IDNs and hospital systems
  • Extensive functional knowledge of 340b hospital and contract pharmacy dynamics, including fraud detection and awareness
  • Leverage GPO contracts within hospital systems to effectively communicate pricing
  • Develop and deliver account management strategy for key regional customers to gain and maintain profitable formulary access placement
  • Build on existing account relationships, experience, and account planning to penetrate accounts and understand their customer needs to negotiate and maintain optimized access for Lexicon products
  • Leveraging business acumen, knowledge of account-specific requirements, issues and needs, and financial modeling to develop account proposals across an array of scenarios and effective negotiation strategies
  • Collaborating compliantly with Medical Affairs to convey the clinical and economic value and rationale of placing Lexicon products on formulary
  • Partnering with field sales teams to ensure productive and timely pull-through strategies to drive unit volume where access has been achieved and push-through efforts for Lexicon products where access has yet to be achieved.
  • Serving as the Market Access point to ensure training, field sales and other matrix teams can maximize the brand value of our Market Access strategies
  • Participate as needed in sales training initiatives, customer strategy and market research activities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • Minimum of 12+ years pharmaceutical experience is required with a minimum of 8 years IDN, hospital system and account management experience.
  • Prior sales leadership experience is preferred. Prior cardiovascular and/or launch experience is preferred.
  • Proven track record of wins and successful integration and execution with IDNs and hospital systems.
  • Collaboration across a matrixed organization to highly complex customers, management skills and selling experience, including strategic selling (selling beyond price), key account management, etc.
  • Strong analytical ability to interpret market research, sales trends, volume and changing market conditions to make sound business judgment and recommendations
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written, and excellent listening skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, time management skills and significant personal initiative
  • Ability to develop strategic long-term relationships with customers aimed at helping patients and achieving business results
  • Ability to travel 60-70% of the time.
